As the spring semester comes to a close, the Epsilon Psi chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta would like to sincerely congratulate the following graduating seniors: Ashley Huntsberry, Catherine Ayala, Elizabeth Barta, Kelly McPherson, Nicole Whitmire, Sara Muehlenbein, Sarah Trowsdale, Steph Bouillion, Suzy Stillman and Yana Gelman. We will miss you dearly!
Formal
On Friday, April 23rd, all the sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta got dressed up for their annual formal. This year’s theme was Midnight Masquerade! All members in attendance enjoyed a delicious meal and then spent the rest of the evening dancing and having a good time with their sisters and their dates. We would like to thank our Social Coordinator, Tori Mayin, for putting on such a fantastic event!
Initiation
Congratulations to our newly initiated sisters! Alex Snider, Amy Boring, Christina Nguyen, Kelly Tennant, Melissa Boga, Michelle Guzman, and Stephanie Reed were all initiated into the sisterhood of Alpha Gamma Delta on the morning of April 17, 2010! Congratulations again to our newest members! We love you all!
IRD
International Reunion Day is a day that is special to all members of Alpha Gamma Delta, whether Alumnae or a collegiate members. On Saturday April 17, 2010, IRD was held at Canyon Creek Country Club. All members in attendance had a wonderful time getting to mix and mingle with each other over a delicious meal. We also got to sing traditional Alpha Gamma Delta songs, participate in a presentation about Attitudes and Attire, and hand out awards to the outstanding members in our collegiate chapter. We cannot wait until next year!
Fireside
The most exciting event during Pre-Initiation Week is Fireside. This semester the Franz family opened up their home for us to have the event there. All members new and old gathered for a night full of excitement, traditions, and sisterhood. The new members were all very excited knowing that they would soon be fully initiated the next morning!
Mr. UTD
Our annual philanthropy project, Mr. UTD, has now come and gone and this year was a major success! All of our proceeds go to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation! This year’s theme was “The Next Boss on Campus” with a “Sopranos” and mafia vision. The men had to compete in a pajama round, a talent round, and then lastly the formal wear round. Congratulations to Andrew Previc, the reigning Mr. UTD! Also, we’d like to thank our very own Jordan Wallace, our Philanthropy Coordinator, for working hard and making Mr. UTD such a success this year.
Soccer Intramurals
The spring semester brings around the season of soccer intramurals. The AGD women’s team, although not-so-victorious, had a lot of fun every Tuesday night getting to run around and laugh with each other during this year’s soccer season. The co-rec team that some of our sisters played on, however, did very well this year. A group of Alpha Gams teamed up with some of the men of SAE and had a fantastic season this year. Congrats to both teams and good luck in your future games!
New Member Pots and Paints
Our newest members had a little sisterhood event of their own. They had a fun time at their “Pots and Paints” event. The baby squirrels had an awesome time painting and decorating their own pots while also strengthening their bonds of sisterhood! Along with their New Member coordinator, Trish Walberg, the girls had an awesome time!
Greek Week - Letters and Spirit Rock
After two consecutive years of winning under our belt, every Alpha Gam was pumped to start off Greek Week 2010 with a bang. This year, our team was named Team Wolverine and Storm, and we were paired with Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Lambda Alpha, and Alpha Phi Alpha. The first competition was to have as many members of your fraternity or sorority wear their letters and run to the Spirit Rock in between noon and two ‘o clock to sign in! At the end of the week, our team was named the Greek Week champions! We were so excited to win Greek Week for the 3rd year in a row!
Congrats to all the New Baby Squirrels
Congratulations to all of our new baby squirrels! Alex Snider, Amy Boring, Christina Nguyen, Kelly Tennant, Melissa Boga, Michelle Guzman, and Stephanie Reed all accepted our bids and are now officially our newest sisters in Alpha Gamma Delta! The next step is to be initiated, but until then they will attend New Member classes and start forming their bonds of sisterhood. Congrats again to the Alpha Nu class!
Tie Dye Sisterhood Event
Every month the sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta have a scheduled sisterhood event. For the month of March, we got together for a Tie Dye party. On March 26, a group of Alpha Gams met at a sister’s apartment to tie dye an article of clothing of their choice. We had tie dye shorts, shirts, socks, head bands, undershirts, and much more! We had a great time getting messy and creative with all the dye!
Sisterhood Retreat
Sisterhood Retreat in Spring 2010 took place the weekend of March 5th-7th. We all met Friday night at a lodge in Davis, Oklahoma right outside of the beautiful Turner Falls. The rest of the weekend was filled with many different bonding activities, crafts, and lots of sisterly love and laughter! As with all sisterhood retreats, we had a great time bonding with our sisters and getting to know all of the new baby squirrels!
Broomball with Chi Phi
On the evening of February 26th, several Alpha Gams met with a group of Chi Phi brothers and went to Stonebriar Mall to play broomball on the Ice. This mixer was extremely fun and everyone laughed as they watched one another slide all over the slippery ice! Broomball was a hit once again, and we’re sure there will be many more broomball games in our future!
Advisor Appreciation Lunch
On Sunday, February 21st, we held an Advisor Appreciation Lunch. Our current officers treated their advisors to a delicious lunch at Spaghetti Warehouse. Also, the advisors received a small gift as a token of their officer’s appreciation! Thank you for all that you do, Advisors!
Crush Party
February 13th was our annual Crush Party. Like our Date Party in the Fall, we grabbed our boyfriends and got to spend the afternoon with all of our sisters and their dates. This year we went to the Dallas World Aquarium! Our shirts this year said, “Every fish in the sea wishes he were with an AGD!” Isn’t that the truth?
Sisterhood Event - Pancakes and PJs
For the month of February, our sisterhood event was a late-night visit to IHOP in our “PJ’s”. Everyone came in their most comfortable pajamas and had a great time pigging out on some pancakes!
Alumnae Mixer - Bunko
On February 6th, we held a mixer with our local alumnae. We enjoyed each others company while we played an exciting game of Bunko, and feasted on some delicious taco salads and chocolate cake! We always have a good time when we get to hang out with our alumnae!
Spring COR 2010
COR time in Spring 2010! We hosted many fun events for our potential new members. We had tea at Java & Cha, went bowling, had a game night, and then finally held our invitational tea, where we hand out bids to our amazing new members. We now have eight wonderful new baby squirrels waiting to be initiated.
Sisterhood Event - Ice Skating
In January, we went ice skating at the Galleria in Dallas. Although none of us are pros, we had a great time laughing, chatting, and trying not to fall. We all had a great time, and hope to do it again soon!
Whirly Ball with Chi Phi
On the night of November 24th, a group of Alpha Gams met up to play Whirly Ball
with the men of Chi Phi. This mixer was extremely fun; although, Whirly Ball is
a tough sport to master. We played many games, some boys against girls, and also
some mixed team games. All in all, it was a very fun night, and we were all glad
to get to spend some time with the Chi Phi men!
Welcoming Troops Home
Right before Christmas break Rebecca Serrioz, Kacie
Kell, Julianne Price, and Jackie Burke went to DFW airport to meet incoming soldiers.
It was very heartwarming to watch families reunited with their loved ones who had
been overseas, as well as, children getting to see their parents for the first time
in a long time. When we went we brought signs with quotes saying "AGD supports our
troops" and “Welcome Home". We also brought bottled waters, cotton candy, and other
snacks to give out to the soldiers. On our way out we had the chance to meet some
of the soldiers, take pictures with them, and talk for a little bit. Overall it
was a great experience and helped us appreciate those fighting for our country.
Theme Party
November 20th was Alpha Gam's annual theme party. This year's theme was "Lifestyles
of the Rich and Famous", so everyone came dressed as a celebrity, rock star, entrepreneur,
or debutante. It was a fun-filled night as we celebrated the initiation of our new
members by dancing the night away and socializing with our friends and sisters.
We can't wait until our next theme party!
Scottish Rite
In addition to fundraising for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, we also give small
gifts to our local philanthropy organization, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for
Children. Through donations, this hospital provides free medical care to over 14,000
children a year. We love giving small gifts to the children of Scottish Rite Hospital
to brighten their day! Some of the gifts have been mugs with hot cocoa mix and St.
Valentine’s Day cards. In addition, we volunteer there a few weekends every semester.
When we go, we do crafts and play board games with the children. Every trip we make
we try to come up with different crafts that all of the kids will enjoy doing with
us.
Initiation
Congratulations to the newly initiated members of Alpha Gamma Delta. The Alpha Lambda
pledge class consists of: Jessica Rodriguez, Stacey Tyree, Kira Rutland, Sara Duggan,
Trish Walberg, Kalyn Hanson, Rebecca Serrioz, Randi Paine, Brittany
Dusek, Clare Barnes, Haley Hammers, Justine Fowler, Rachel Franz,
and Tori Mayin. Congratulations girls! Thank you all for the hard work you have
done up to this point!
Cardboard Boat Regatta
Later in November, Alpha Gamma Delta went where we had never gone before. We decided
to participate in the school’s Cardboard Regatta, which is a cardboard boat race
held in the UTD pool. With the help of a few sisters that are physics majors as
well as some blood, sweat, and tears, we skillfully constructed a cardboard boat
that somewhat resembled our mascot, the squirrel. A few of our brave sailor sisters
risked drowning in order to compete in this most honorable sport. Our rivals included
a yellow submarine boat and a bat-mobile boat. Despite the steep competition, we
passionately cheered on our sailor sisters, as they paddled relentlessly to victory.
Unfortunately we lost in the second round and ended up taking 5th place out of 25
contestants. Overall, we were happy with the results and had a lot of fun throughout
the entire process.
Animal Shelter
After finals were over, we decided to go the Richardson Animal Shelter to donate
some much needed supplies and to spend time with the animals. We walked the dogs
and played with the cats for several hours. We had to stop ourselves from adopting
all the animals! We were sad to leave our furry friends but we will be back soon
to play with them again.
Sisterhood Retreat
October rolled around and everybody needed a break from their busy school and work
schedules. Our semiannual sisterhood retreat in Oklahoma proved to be the relaxing
break that everybody needed. In an attempt to forget the daily stresses of city
life we played games, hung out by the lake, and cooked together in the cabin.
SAE Fiesta Party
In late October all the sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta attended SAE’s Fiesta themed
party. Our sisters’ costumes varied from: homemade piñatas, to wearing sombreros,
while others just wore cute ‘fiesta-inspired’ dresses. We all had a blast getting
dressed for the theme and then dancing the night away with all of our friends.
Horseback Riding
Later in October we were daring enough to drive out to a ranch to go horseback riding.
Although the experience was terrifying for some, it was made much easier with the
unwavering support of other, more experienced, sisters. The event turned out to
be a huge success. We were sad to leave the horses but we definitely plan on returning
to the ranch.
Date Party
On October 24th, we got together with our “significant others” and went to a Halloween
themed Date Party. Date Party has a counter-part, “Crush Party” in the spring. This
semester’s Date Party we went to the Scare Grounds. Running through haunted houses
and socializing with all of our sisters and their dates was a great way to have
a lot of frightening fun and see how many scaredy cats we have in Alpha Gamma Delta.
Homecoming Court Nominee
Congratulations to our very own Sarah Trowsdale, for she has been nominated for
University of Texas at Dallas’s Homecoming Queen. Against great competition, Sarah
represents Alpha Gamma Delta with great poise, class, and ambition. Vote for Sarah
Trowsdale for Homecoming Queen!
Pumpkin Carving
A small group of our Baby Squirrels got together around Halloween time and carved
pumpkins. Little things like this are good ways to strengthen their new bonds of
sisterhood. Each pumpkin conveyed a sense of each sister’s personality, and all
in all it was fun bonding time!
Homecoming Float
During UTD's Homecoming weekend, Alpha Gamma Delta and the other CPC sororities
participated in a float building contest. With the theme of "Cirque Du Soleil",
the girls dressed up in circus-like outfits and did fun flips around the parade!
With a lot of team work and enthusiastic attitudes, Alpha Gamma Delta worked hand
in hand with the two other Panhellenic organizations to finish the float.
Alumnae Mixer - Pool Party
On September 19, 2009, we got together with some of the younger local alumnae and threw a pool party. It was nice getting to relax and chat with our alumnae, and in the meantime we all ate some yummy hamburgers! We can’t wait for our next mixer with our alums.
Mixer with Kappa Sigma
On Saturday, September 12th, we met up with the Kappa Sig’s and played paintball.
It’s real important to us to have mixers with the other sororities and fraternities.
The chance to play paintball with Kappa Sigma let us all release some tension in
a friendly environment and get a little messy!
JDRF 2009
Every year since our installation, the Alpha Gamma Deltas at UTD have participated
in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk. In addition to the walk, we hold
bake sales on campus, which raises money and awareness for Juvenile Diabetes. This
year we attended the walk with members from TWU. It's was a good chance to meet
more sisters and help out a great cause.
Intramural Football
This year’s season of football intramurals was a very exciting season for both of
Alpha Gamma Delta’s teams. After a long, muddy, and intense match against our friends,
the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta, both AGD’s and the Baby Squirrels came out with
a victory! The older AGD’s went two rounds into the playoffs, but sadly, the Baby
Squirrels lost out in the first round. Congrats, and good luck again next season!
COR Baby Squirrels!
Congratulations to our new baby squirrels! After going through COR (Continuous Open
Recruiting) Randi Paine, Kira Rutland, Claire Barnes, and Rachel Franz are about
to join the rest of their pledge class and head on their journey to become initiated.
Congrats again, ladies! You all are so awesome!
COR Event at Stone Horse Restaurant
For COR this semester, Fall 2009, we hosted many different small social events.
We went and had coffee at Starbucks with interested girls, held a small pool party,
went out for sushi, and at last, hosted an invitational tea. Some new baby squirrels
and older members posed out by the stone horse at Stone Horse Restaurant after eating
sushi with some potential new members.
Bid Day!
Finally, on the last day of recruitment, came the day everyone had been waiting
for - Bid Day! This was when the newest members of our Alpha Gam family would be
revealed. We eagerly waited outside of the Student Union and enthusiastically welcomed
our 15 wonderful new sisters. We then went off campus and bonded together with an
"AGD in the City" themed celebration. We knew that all of our hard work with recruitment
had paid off.
Recruitment - Preference
Preference was the most special night of recruitment. The ladies of Alpha Gamma
Delta put on their beautiful red dresses and prepared to show what being an Alpha
Gam means to them. This was the most emotional and personal night of formal recruitment
and by the end of the night the girls would know which sorority was right for them.
Recruitment - Party 2
Party 2 was the next day of recruitment. This was philanthropy day, where each group
got to showcase their chosen philanthropies and tell what we all contribute. Our
theme for this party was "Vintage Hawaiian." We told all the girls about the Alpha
Gamma Delta Foundation and what we do to contribute to the cause. We also worked
with the girls to create picture frames for the children of Scottish Rite Children’s
Hospital, our local philanthropy.
Recruitment - Party 1
The first night of formal recruitment was a lot of fun. Our theme was "Peace, Love,
and Alpha Gam!" Our recruitment room was decorated in red, yellow and green, giving
off a very calm and cool vibe. This was a very exciting night for Alpha Gamma Delta,
as well as the women going through recruitment. It was the first time we got to
really talk to the women about our specific bonds of sisterhood and everything we
have to offer and we also got to know them a little bit better.
Greek BBQ
The month of August is a very hectic and exciting time for all Alpha Gams. It’s
time to recruit! In order to meet new girls that are interested in going Greek,
we plan and attend all sorts of mixers. On August 19th all sororities and fraternities
held a Greek BBQ where anyone who was interested in going through recruitment went
to socialize with the different groups. Alpha Gamma Delta took pride in their letters,
and had a great time meeting new girls!
IRD
On April 18, we attended our annual International Reunion Day with our wonderful
alumnae. The theme for this year was Health and Vigor of Body and for the occasion
we had a great speaker remind us the importance of staying active and taking care
of ourselves. 14 different Alpha Gam chapters were present at the beautiful brunch.
Initiation
On Saturday April 18, 6 extraordinary women were initiated into our chapter. From
left to right: Julianne Price, Deborah Kang, Linlea Schwarz, Brittany Ansel.. Congratulations ladies, you are in for some amazing
memories!
Formal
With the end of the spring semester so near it was time for our annual formal! This
year’s theme was “Alpha Gam Goes to Hollywood.” Just like in Hollywood we gave out
awards voted on by the chapter. They were: cutest couple, most stylish, Ms. Congeniality,
best comedic performance, best overall performance, and best new artist (meaning
new member). We danced the night away and as always had a great time!
Greek Week Awards Banquet
Team Italy wins Greek Week! After much hard work and dedication we are proud to
be a part of the winning team for Greek Week 2009. Winners were announced at the
lovely awards banquet held in Richardson on Saturday April 4. We have now won Greek
Week 2 years in a row and Miss Greek 3 years in a row! Congratulations to Laura
Ream- Greek Woman of the Year, Yana Gelman- Order of Omega Miss Greek, Julia Calderara-
College Panhellenic Council New Member of the Year, and Holly Rudnick- Brad Hill

Mr. UTD 2009
Congratulations to Kappa Sigma’s Brad Unruh who won the title of Mr. UTD! Mr.UTD
is a pageant for men representing various organizations at UTD. Proceeds go to the
Alpha Gamma Delta foundation, which benefits women's health and diabetes research.
This year's theme for the exciting show held on Friday March 27, was Prince Charming
with the men competing in areas such as costume, talent, formal wear, and interview.
