Welcome!
Whether your daughter is a Potential New Member, a New Member or an Initiated Member of the chapter, we welcome you to our website and appreciate your interest in Alpha Gamma Delta. Fraternity life gives a young woman a home in her college community. She joins not just a sisterhood, but an entire Greek community at The University of Texas at Dallas and beyond. Fraternities provide opportunities for leadership, scholastic excellence, service and social and personal development.
Pledging Alpha Gam
The women we pledge are welcomed into our international organization and their interests and well-being are our first concern. As a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, Alpha Gamma Delta prohibits any form of hazing or other undignified procedures. Chapter programs are supervised by an Executive Council that includes the major collegiate officers and local alumnae that advise in scholarship, finance, recruitment, sisterhood, member development and operations. Each new member is also paired with a sister-mother, an initiated member who serves as a personal guide and friend throughout a woman's first months in Alpha Gamma Delta. This special inner-family relationship will extend beyond Initiation — and graduation.
Leadership Development
Alpha Gamma Delta offers many ways for women to become involved in the chapter and on campus. Each new member begins her leadership training by serving on one of the chapter's committees or holding a leadership position. Your daughter may find opportunities through the chapter with intramural sports, service projects and other campus events. Our educational programming brings various topics to the collegians such as alcohol awareness, social issues, health, time management, personal safety and much more.
Scholastic Excellence
The Fraternity has specific goals and guidelines to ensure that academic achievement remains a priority for both individuals and the chapter. Each collegiate member must maintain the chapter's scholarship requirement to remain in Good Standing and each collegiate chapter must maintain the Fraternity's chapter GPA requirement to remain in Good Standing with International Headquarters. Scholastic programming is customized by each chapter to meet its unique campus and member needs.
Service and Involvement
If your daughter pledges Alpha Gam, she will have the opportunity to express concern for others through various philanthropic projects. Helping organizations and people in need is an integral part of Alpha Gamma Delta. Since 1979, diabetes has been our philanthropic focus. The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation also assists members through scholarship grants, emergency financial aid, wellness programs, leadership training and workshops.
Personal Development
Personal development skills will benefit your daughter throughout her life in the business world and in the community. Alpha Gamma Delta can assist your daughter in learning to achieve balance among academics, extracurricular activities and health. As she makes the best of her time and opportunities, she will enjoy her collegiate years and take advantage of the challenges she encounters.
A Lifetime of Loyalty
Your daughter's collegiate years are the beginning of a lifetime of Alpha Gamma Delta involvement opportunities. Alumnae chapters and clubs are located throughout North America, allowing your daughter to find sisters and remain active with Alpha Gam wherever her future takes her. Your daughter will build more than just friendships in Alpha Gamma Delta, there exists an unspoken link of trust and assurance that spans a lifetime of commitment, love, loyalty and friendships among our sisters.
Alpha Gamma Delta and You
Alpha Gamma Delta wants parents to feel a part of their daughters' learning and growing and welcomes your interest and involvement in her sorority membership. Our chapter has an organized Parents Club so that parents may become more involved with the chapter. The Parents Club may help support the collegiate chapter during recruitment and other special events. This organization gives the parents an opportunity to meet and get to know one another.
Also, our award-winning Fraternity magazine, the Alpha Gamma Delta Quarterly, keeps members and the Greek world informed about Alpha Gamma Delta news, accomplished alumnae, our collegiate chapters and our philanthropic endeavors. The publication is mailed to your daughter's permanent address upon Initiation; we invite you to enjoy it as well.
